HOW TO MAKE YOUR PINTEREST PINS GO VIRAL

How to make your Pinterest pins go viral? If you’re a Pinterest user and use Pinterest to attract traffic to your blog or site, then this might be a common question for you.

Although, let’s cover another newbie question first. What is Pinterest?

Well, Pinterest is a search engine and a social network at the same time. But above all, it is the most important platform for newbie businesses and blogs.

Any business, site or blog would only grow if there’s an audience. And it is really difficult to build an audience at the very beginning of your business. So here, Pinterest works as a business-savior for beginners.

A huge number of 200 million monthly members use Pinterest for almost everything. Whether it is tips or knowledge about health, wealth, food, fashion, travel or anything, people use Pinterest for it.

So, the fact is that if you can master Pinterest, you can master your Audience! Although if you don’t have a blog, you can still earn money on Pinterest!

This article would take you through the most important steps needed to make money on Pinterest. Well, since I’ve told you how Pinterest can be everything you need, let’s move forward to our major question.

Firstly, let me tell you, Pinterest is all about Pins. Pinterest works on pins (not the board pins). These pins are just a graphic representation of your post’s title in an attractive way. It doesn’t mean that you start pinning crap and people will open it. You need to be good as hell to stand out of other people doing the same thing.

According to me, followers do not matter at all on Pinterest. All that matters is how you showcase yourself on this platform and make people love and trust you.

Since I’m a beginner blogger, and already have OVER 673k Pinterest monthly viewers, all the information I have is perfectly useful. I have built my followers, my boards, my pins, all from scratch. And that is why I have the perfect answer to this popular question!

So, if you’re going to read this post, read it to the end. I don’t want you going off without proper knowledge. I’m telling you, this post will turn out to be very good if you want to improve your chances to make your Pinterest pins go viral.

1. Rich Pins

Note: Skip the step if you already have enabled rich pins.

So basically, rich pins are a better version of an ordinary pin. Let me give an example of differentiating rich pins and non-rich pins. Look at these pins in the image below:

If you can notice the difference, you already know how rich pins are better than ordinary pins. Rich pins automatically attach more information such as Post Titles and meta text to them.

This makes pins look more informative and Pinterest gets a clearer idea about them. Eventually, this results in Pinterest showing your pins to more and more people, which automatically increases the chance to make your Pinterest pins go viral.

Although the thing is, there’s a complex procedure to enable rich pins for your profile. But, don’t worry, I’m here for turning those complex situations into simpler ones.

Follow these steps to enable rich pins:

Step 1. Turn your Pinterest account to a business account.

Step 2. Go to the “Add new plugin” option in your WordPress dashboard and activate the “Yoast SEO” plugin. Make sure that the “Advanced settings” for this plugin is enabled.

Step 3. Open the “Rich Pin Validator” and sign to your Pinterest account (if you aren’t already signed in).

Step 4. Pick up URL of any one of your posts and paste it into the box available. This is how it looks:

Your task is done here. It is all up to Pinterest now! It sometimes takes a few days but you’ll soon have rich pins enabled. Although there is another way to enable rich pins, it is very difficult.

So if this doesn’t work, you will need to go that way. Here is a link to blog post you would need if this procedure doesn’t work.

2. Pin Size Matters

I have experimented with many types of pin sizes to date. But, only a few work the best. Size of a pin is a major element with regards to Pinterest SEO.

Apparently, Pinterest itself recommends the size “600:900” as in ratio 2:3 for a pin to work better. But, the size 600:900 is too small for a pin to catch attention from the smart feed.

For instance, take your own example. While scrolling down your pin feed, would you even zoom in a small image? Below are two of my pins and I’ll let you choose the one that looks good to you.

Since the answer is pretty obvious, you know why big pins with bright colors have a better chance to go viral.

But, Pinterest doesn’t allow pinners to pin images which are longer than 1500px. If your pin is longer than this maximum length, the rest of the pin will cut out and it wouldn’t appear as full in the pin feed.

The size that I recommend is: 775 x 1275

This size is neither too big nor too small. Or we can say that it is a perfect size. Although in the end, it all depends on experiments. Try different sizes and take a note of what pins work better for you.

After all, experimenting will only make your Pinterest pins go viral.

3. Bright Pins are your only Chances, Dull Pins are Trash

Remember this, no matter how good group boards you’re in or how many followers you have, no one will open a pin if it doesn’t appeal to them.

This is an important thing to remember. So mark it, write it, memorize it.

Even if you have 100k followers, not a single one of them will open your pin if it looks like someone has just completed their job.

What should you do to create brighter pins and make your Pinterest pins go viral?

First of all, you need a platform to create pins. Now, you might have already seen many people recommending your Canva and PicMonkey.

In the end, we always go with one, no matter how many options we have. I chose Canva to design my pins and I think you should do the same.

Although, I don’t know anything about PicMonkey because it is not free. Since it is not free, I didn’t buy a plan and started to use Canva instead (it’s free).

Canva is the best platform that you could use to make your Pinterest Pins go viral. It is really easy to navigate and use. But, just a pin-creating platform isn’t enough.

You need images, the best ones! The best images aren’t available just like that, you need to find them.

Let me be clear, you can’t google something, look for images and use them. Many images offered by Google aren’t free, they are copyrighted. Someone can even file a case if you use their copyrighted images.

4. Best Places to find the Best Images

Here, you have two options: Paid Stock Photos and Free Stock Photos!

1. Free Stock Photos

There are a number of sites where people upload their pictures and you can use them anywhere you want without having to pay money. These images are just as good as paid images.

Here are some sites that I first used for free stock photos: PixabayUnsplashPexels, StockSnap, Burst (by Shopify) and way too more.

But, the thing is, since these photos are available for free, many people use them. After using them, you’ll find pins of different pinners having the same photos used in them.

This prevents your Pinterest pins from being unique. And if a pin isn’t unique, there’s a smaller chance to make your Pinterest Pins go viral. Here comes the second option!

2. Paid Stock Photos

If you purchase a paid stock photos plan, your pins will always be unique. Pinterest will know that this pinner has pinned something unique and will show it to a much larger audience.

Trust me when I say, Pinterest doesn’t only reads your Pin title and description, it also reads your images.

Now, if you look for the best-paid stock photos site, there will be lots of them. Also, they all will offer you a common number of 30 photos for $30. Some of these sites are AlamyiStockShutterstockFotoliaCrestock.

According to me, $1 for just one picture is clearly too much. But still, I or you can’t do anything about it. So if we’re going to pay $30 for 30 photos, then we should choose the best site to do it.

Deposit Photos is among the best stock photos sites worldwide. So if you’re really going to pay $30 for just 30 photos, make sure those photos are worth it.

5. Colors Matter in Pinterest

Again, while trying to create beautiful traffic, we often mix things up. The graphic becomes too complex and the colors used do not work.

That is why, creating a pin as simple as you can, should be your main focus. Trust me, creating a pin takes a lot. We just can’t judge someone based on their pins.

Some people have creative minds, some do not. Some do have creative minds but then do not have me. XD

My advice to you is to use warmer colors like yellow, orange, red more often while creating pins. These colors stand out and people actually attract towards them.

Pinterest doesn’t work on cool colors. If you use colors like black, blue, purple and brown, you already reduce your chance to make your Pinterest Pins go viral.

Remember this: Red, Yellow, Orange, Light pink (a larger proportion of Pinterest users are females).

6. What you write should be catchy!

According to me, pins that have small and catchy phrases work the best. I have seen a lot of pinners writing too much on their pins. Like, dude, people don’t read that much on a pin.

They just scroll down and down and open the pin which has an attractive and short text. You just cannot make your Pinterest Pins go viral by writing paragraphs on your pins.

That is foolish!

Plus you have to use fonts that look stylish, bold and are easier to read. If you’re going to use Canva, trust me, you’ll have many attractive fonts to choose from.

Anyways, these are some of the fonts that I use in Canva: Carter One, Suez One, Satisfy, and Allerta Stencil. Remember these while creating pins. I’m sure you’d love them.

7. Branding your Pins

Well, there’s a pretty complex definition for this concept. I’m sure it’ll take me another 500 words to explain to you how branding works. Instead, let me cut it short for you.

Basically, branding your pins are giving them a unique look. In other words, giving your pins a design which can only be done by you.

For example, I’ve seen so many pins published by so many bloggers that I have understood the pattern. In simple words, now I can tell without actually knowing which pin belongs to which blog.

This is an essence which creators should put in their pins!

Also, mentioning your blog name on the pin improves your authority. For instance, let’s say that you have read a blog post and you loved it. You remembered the blog name and that blog is good in your eyes.

Now, you’re scrolling through Pinterest and come across a pin which has that blog’s name on it. It simply tells that this pin belongs to the blog that you love to read.

Why wouldn’t you open it? There’s no reason at all to not open that pin. That is why making sure that people know where this pin belongs is important.

All of my pins have my blog’s name at the bottom center. You can choose wherever you want to put your blog’s name on the image. It’s your choice to do it.

8. Keywords: Very Important to make your Pinterest Pins go viral

Just like keywords are important to rank in google searches, they are also important to get viewed in the Pinterest feed. Pinterest needs you to put keywords everywhere you can.

Firstly, there must be keywords in your profile name, like there are, in mine. Take a look at this:

Also you can notice keywords in my profile description. Apart from this, there come keywords in the board descriptions. Create boards and put relevant keywords in your board descriptions for sure. Also, make sure to not look spammy. This will hurt your Pinterest SEO badly. You need to be natural while putting keywords anywhere.

At last, there must be keywords in your pin descriptions. Trust me, keywords help Pinterest a lot to figure out, which pins to show to its users.

If Pinterest knows what a particular pin is about, then only it will show it to people. While making pins, make sure to create at least 5 pins for every post.

Currently, I make 9 pins for every single post and I know that is too much but it is kind of a habit now. The more pins you have for a particular post, the more will be your chance to make your Pinterest Pins go viral.

9. At last, Planning them right!

Now there are two kinds of pinning strategies to make your Pinterest Pins go viral. One is manual pinning and the other one is automatic pinning.

While manual pinning is a lot exhausting, automatic pinning takes a little time. But in the end, they both work the same.

If you’re going to manual pin, you’ll be consuming a lot of your time. On the other hand, automatic pinning costs you some bucks. It is totally upon you which way you want to go.

As for me, I’m using Tailwind to schedule everything. The best thing about Tailwind is that its Tribes are as useful as Pinterest group boards.

Basically, they are an advantage. Here is the link to check out some Tailwind plans, if you wish on purchasing one. Also, if you want to manual pin, then you should definitely purchase this ebook.

Pinterest Strategies is worth $32 dollar but the knowledge inside it is worth $1000. This ebook offers you some great strategies of manual pinning.

The author of this book is herself getting OVER 200,000 pageviews every month. All the strategies she uses in packed inside this ebook. I’m sure that you definitely need this ebook.
